who IS ALEX MOTTA?
Alex Motta is Motta Weddings—a Melbourne-based photographer who has been working professionally for over 16 years and has documented more than 500 weddings across Australia and worldwide.
Alex was born in Northern Italy near Lake Como, with roots in the southern island of Sicily. He moved to Australia as a boy, where he developed a passion for art and photography.
Alex (along with his family of four) is based in the Yarra Ranges but photographs weddings all across Victoria—from the Yarra Valley to the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne CBD, and beyond.
During the Melbourne winter months, the Motta family escapes to Italy and bases themselves in Sicily, travelling to document weddings in a variety of beautiful locations across Italy.
While Motta Weddings primarily focuses on wedding photography, our services also extend to videography, content creation, film photography, album design, and more.

Alex prides himself on customer service and ensures that each of his couples has the best experience—not only on the day but also in the lead-up to the wedding and beyond the delivery stage.
His images and style are described as bright and colourful, with a blend of editorial black and whites—modern yet timeless wedding photography.
Alex says, “I like to describe my photos as vibrant and colourful, like an Aperol Spritz on a warm summer’s day. My photos reflect that Italian Dolce Vita feel, with a classical editorial nostalgia—like the vintage Audrey Hepburn film A Roman Holiday.”
Alex’s photos feel fun and candid, yet polished and refined. Capturing moments in an artistic and natural way is deeply important to him. He is confident in giving a little direction when needed, but he primarily lets the day unfold naturally to create the most genuine and heartfelt moments
